Planning & Zoning

Purpose
The Planning and Zoning Division provides design guidance, reviews zoning and subdivision applications, and shapes public policy related to growth and development of Farmersville.

We are committed to proactive, community-based planning founded on public participation, and to the building of a livable, sustainable community.

Mission
The mission of the Planning Division is to provide education, information, recommendation, and leadership products to citizens of Farmersville. This is in hopes that they can enjoy a quality of life enriched by choices in housing and transportation, efficient use of public infrastructure, distinctive community character, and a robust civic life.

Role in the Community
The Planning Division's primary role is the review of development and land use projects for:
  • Farmersville Design Guidelines
  • The Farmersville Waterway / Trails Master Plan
  • The Farmersville’s adopted 2025 General Plan
  • The Highway 198 Corridor Specific Plan
  • Zoning regulations
In addition, the Planning Division takes the lead in state mandated environmental review on all planning applications. The Planning Division staff act as a liaison between applicants and other City departments and divisions and provide staff to the Farmersville Planning Commission and City Council.

Understand Building Regulations
Planning and building regulations can appear confusing, so we have prepared a series of handouts that explain zoning standards.
