Victim: McDaniel, Evan DOB: 12-13-1949

On March 04, 2016 at approximately 06:05 AM Officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian on Visalia Road just East of Farmersville Blvd. Upon arrival officers located a subject that had been struck by a vehicle in the number one east bound lane of Visalia Road just east of Farmersville Blvd. The subject, later identified as Evan McDaniel of Farmersville, appeared to have major head, chest, and leg injuries and was subsequently transported to Kaweah Delta Regional Medical Center where he later died.

Witnesses at the scene indicated that the victim and his adult male companion appear to have been attempting to cross Visalia Rd. at the crosswalk from the south east corner of the intersection heading north bound against a red light. Witnesses stated that the two were in the roadway when the victim was struck by a vehicle heading east bound in the number one lane of east bound Visalia Rd. crossing Farmersville Blvd with the green light. The Victim, McDaniel, was in a wheel chair being pushed by the male companion and the male companion narrowly escaped being struck by the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, a black Honda sedan, was interviewed and released from the scene after providing a statement. The driver did not suffer any injuries as a result of the accident.
