Gregorio "Greg" Gomez brings a wealth of experience and dedication to public service. Having previously served three years on the Farmersville Planning Commission, he was elected to the Farmersville City Council in 2012. Since then, he has demonstrated his commitment to the community through his leadership roles, serving one term as Mayor pro-tem and two terms as Mayor of the city.
Born and raised in Visalia, Councilman Gomez pursued higher education at the University of California, Berkeley. His professional journey includes notable roles such as Manager of Data Services at a local healthcare insurance administrator and 24 years of service with the County of Tulare as a Systems Administrator.
Councilman Gomez's ties to Farmersville run deep, further cemented by his marriage to a native of the city. The couple's love story began in town in 1993, culminating in marriage the following year. After residing in Visalia for a time, they returned to Farmersville in 2007, establishing their home. They take immense pride in their family, being parents to four daughters and grandparents to two grandchildren.
In addition to his duties on the City Council, Greg Gomez contributes to various city and county boards, showcasing his commitment to improving local governance. His current appointments include serving as Trustee President of the Delta Mosquito and Vector Control District, Vice Chair of the Tulare County Regional Transit Agency, and as an Alternate for the Tulare County Council of Cities.
Beyond his official capacities, Councilman Gomez has a rich history of involvement in community and civic organizations. He has served as a Board Member and Past President of the Tulare County Fair board since 2013, and as a Board Member of the Cal Cities Latino Caucus since 2014. His leadership extends to his past roles as Chairman of the Farmersville City Planning Commission from 2009 to 2012 and as a Former Board Member of the United Way of Tulare County. Additionally, he has been actively involved in initiatives like the "Lea Conmigo" Community Reading Collaborative.
